Tiefschwarz - On Up (Magik Johnson Remix)

So what do you say when you open an email on a Monday morning from one of your favourite producers, and in that email is a link to a remix he’s done of one of your all-time favourite tracks? How about, “HOLY S#!&… this is going to be a great week!!!”? Well, we did!

You’ve had a killer tune for years. You know the one… It never leaves the box. In fact, it’s a rare occasion when it’s not poking out of your crate at an angle, inviting you to remove that waxy piece of melodic brilliance and slap it straight onto the available turntable. It’s not so much your reliable tune as one that you know will make any dance floor jump to attention! Now imagine receiving an email from one of the top producers in the world saying “Here’s a remix of THAT TRACK I’ve just done”. Pinch yourself, then wake up, right? Usually, but not today. Today, it was real!

The Magik Johnson remix of Tiefschwarz’s iconic ‘On Up’ just arrived in our inbox, and we are seriously impressed! Enough of the original to make us remember what we fell in love with 5 years ago, laced with just the right amount of Magik’s unbelievable quirky brilliance. It bounces with the original passion, then veers off on a little melodic pitch down-shift, and then “down”… ah yes – that awesome lyric and that hovering synth. Just incredible!

The whole issue only leaves us with one problem. Which mix do we play next week?
