Hamza Rahimtula - label founder, writer and producer of the first release, and pioneer of India’s house music scene enlightens the rest of the world with this brilliantly innovative 3 tracker, launching Wind Horse Records onto the international scene.
Kicking off, Sufi Soul swirls out of the speakers, through your ears, and into your soul. Deep, tech-house rhythms with hypnotic vocals and tortured Persian flute… a beautiful eastern essence combined with stomping bass and kick lines. Some tracks give you a sense of energy building, but this one really provides. After each breakdown the track comes back even fuller, louder and more purposeful. It’s a little different - and I love it!!
Second up is Gypsy Travels - pitching itself from the very start as a bit of stomper, relying heavily on swirling percussion. The breakdown offers an introduction to some vocals, but only briefly with the kick taking back over quickly.
Samsaral rounds things off with a full on melody, supported by a hypnotic bongo line, punctuated vocals and floating flute. This is another beautiful combination of eastern sounds and western production techniques - combined perfectly to create a pulsating tech-house track.
This is a great EP, demonstrating a superb balance of worldly influences. Keep an eye on Wind Horse Records - they’re going to be big players!
