Back To Basics? They Never Left…

I wanted to share this little piece of dance music history with you all. Back to Basics is where it all began for me. As a very proud Yorshireman, it’s wonderful to be able to say that Dave, Ralph and all of the Basics guys provided me with an education in dance music culture. They have always stayed adamantly true to their beliefs throughout an illustrious 18 year history… which is why they are still going strong today. While many around them embrased the rampant club commercialism of the late 90s and beyond, Back To Basics stuck with what they knew - a small club, residents and invited DJs (who were guests of the club, notĀ gloriedĀ ticket sellers), a passion about the music and an overwealming desire to have fun. Dave Beer and his team have been true pioneers of house music. As a Godfather to anyone who takes their clubbing more seriously than corporate dance empire attendees, we owe a massive debt of gratitude for what he has done to maintain a real haven for serious dance music fans.

You just don’t get and better (or purer) than this level of honesty…

“Chemical Brothers… you know, the best radio faces you’ve ever seen.”

Thank you Mr Beer. Please keep up the great work. I’ll be back on your dance floor in a few weeks!

Never been but heard it is legendary. Clubs like this in the UK are diminishing fast though :(
