The Quirk Burglars are a duo from South East England, who, after cheering the sound of “proper” underground house with their DROP night, stepped closer to world domination by entering the world of production.
The fantastically named Trendy Mullet Recordings is a genre-bending label that “sticks two fingers up” to followers of passing fads. Their aim is to put out music to make people dance, and releases span the genres of electronic music accordingly.

The Original is traditional Quirk flavour - bumpy, grinding tech house, with a bassline that bubbles away and great stabbing percussion. Rapid squeaks and bleeps and short vocal stabs add an urgency and energy to the track. Leif dubs things out into a sublime slice of modern deep house - a real gem that will drive dancefloors crazy worldwide. One of the best pieces of house I’ve heard recently, from a rising young talent, this mix sits so well alongside the others on the EP. Finally, Drew Tempest digs deep and pulls out a darker driving mix, with smooth filters and crisp beats. A nice techy dub for those late night moments.
