Close Your Eyes is deep house at it’s best. A huge chunky bassline drives things along with tight percussion, and floating chords sweep in around sharper, stabbing keys. A female vocal filters in alongside spacey reverbing electronic bleeps and the whole thing just gels together perfectly. The Dirty Deep Mix keeps the main floating chords but adds a dub-infused bassline and some quirky effects to shape the original into a techier sound. Next up, Soul Minority contributes his trademark Balearic percussion to the mix. Echoing stabs, shuffling percussion and spiraling flurries add more tension into the builds and along with the filtered looping vocal, create an all-round classic house sound. Joshua Iz completes the EP with his tough yet smooth sound. Punchy kicks and snares help this one jack along but the mix also remains deep and spacey. Powerful bass notes and strong yet subtle layers of melodies remind of those epic Global Communication tracks, and provides an excellent twist on the original.
