It was my pleasure & honor to DJ in the hospitality room & then the closing night party at the L.A. Irish Film Festival. The whole festival was amazing with great films featured such as “Perrier’s Bounty” starring Brendan Gleason, Cillian Murphy & Jim Broadbent with music score by one of my favorites David Holmes, do you remember the   wonderful score he did for David Soderbergh’s “Out Of Sight”? This is just as powerful, heavy analog bass lines bringing even more suspense to an already gripping movie.

Many thanks for organizing this incredible film festival to the beautiful & charismatic director Lisa McLaughlin. Okay I am slightly bias since she is me other half!

This weeks show featured new tracks by UNKLE, “The Runaway” featuring Lupe Fiasco, an incredible & soulful re -work of Harold Melvin’s & The Blue Note’s classic “Wake Up Everybody” featuring John Legend & Common. This is certainly the best re make I have heard in quite a while! On the re-work front I slipped into the mix  a very nice & classy remix of “Disco Inferno” by Manuel De La Mare. Also check the dramatic strings on Sebastien Tellier’s “Fingers Of Steel”.

A classic from 1973 Timmy Thomas’s “Funky Me”, like his hit “Why Can’t We Live Together” featuring the same minimalistic organ & drum machine stylings. Also in the old skool vibe but not so old, 1998 actually, is Japan’s DJ Honda with “On The Mic” on Easy E’s Relativity label.
