Pistolpuma & Ivaylo were discovered by Lunatic Jazz boss Jota Wagner on a recent trip to Oslo. The deep and bumpin’ house duo are influenced by artists like Inland Knights and Jake Childs.
Lunatic Jazz is fast approaching its third birthday, having been launched at the end of 2007. The 22 releases over that time have included carefully selected, prestigious music-makers such as Funky Transport, Asad Rizvi, Anhanguera, and Q-Burns Abstract Message.

The Walk starts out quirky and groovy, with popping percussion and weird hits bouncing around the mix, but when the bassline comes in it lifts up into and electronic Prince-style bouncer. This is reinforced with a sexy, spacious vocal, sprinkling in lyrics in just the right amount to keep the electronic feel and letting the lead synths do their thing. Jota Wagner delivers a bumpy remix next, with bubbling bass, rolling blips and rattling stabs all creating tension and energy. More of a big room build than the original stripped back groove, and the eerie pads are used to layer over the simple main vocal hook. Next up, Mike Frugaletti serves up a funky rolling bassline and crisp 4/4 percussion to take the track in a new direction. Extra vocal snippets and drum fills add new layers to the original vocal, but it really is all about that killer bassline! To complete the EP, and round out a great selection of remixers, Jarle Brathen steps up with a bubbling acid line and epic build up of synths and layers, which then explodes into a seriously heavy, growling bassline. This meaty remix is further enhanced with plenty of echoing stabs, hi pass filters and white noise swirls. A monster of a remix, taking the track into another different sub-genre and stretching the EP’s appeal across many house music fans.
Standout Tracks: Original mix, Mike Frugaletti remix.
