1) Hhayibo
2) Sangoma
Official release date: November 22nd, 2010
Hhayibo is a slamming piece of tech house. Latin inspired drums and huge bass notes make up the bulk of the track, but it is cleverly layered with organ stabs, moody looping vocals and haunting synths to create a seemingly endless tension, that is ominous when it thins out to a break, and devastating when it kicks back in. Sangoma has similar punchy drums built around more Latin percussion, with crunchy claps and rolling conga riffs chugging along throughout. More vocal chants punctuate the offbeat and the same kind of swirling, reverberated vocal loop spins in and out. It’s a shame that both tracks are a little too similar, but they would equally destroy a dancefloor. A deceptively simple EP, but to underestimate it would be a mistake.
Standout Tracks: Hhayibo.
