We hope you’ve all had wonderful Christmases and are looking forward to a fantastic New Year. Talking of New Year, we’ve got a little bit of a tip for anyone heading out into chilly London-town to bring in 2011. Our very good friends over at Artizan Music will be putting on an absolute hum-dinger of a night at the sparkling new Kings Cross venue; The Star of King Cross.
UpTownBoogieDown NYE will be an absolute beauty, with the likes of Mighty Mouse, Poussez (Jafar & Maxime Cescau), Chris Woodward (of Buzzin’ Fly fame), Mr Chex, Toby Phickle and many more taking to the decks to provide some serious party vibes that will warm up any frosty conditions the current big freeze can throw at the night!
The NYE spectacular will be a beautifully intimate affair in the relaxed confines of The Star of Kings. A lovely pub meets club, The Star boasts superb Function One sound across ground floor and basement and will have an extended license on the night (8pm-6am), so there will be no limit to your partying!
Joining Artizan’s Jafar & Maxime Cescau in the headline slot to celebrate their new album Song with no Word (Disco Circus Records), will be an exclusive DJ set from men of the moment Mighty Mouse. Up there with the likes of Tensnake, Mighty Mouse have carved a serious name for themselves, adding their mirror ball gold to everyone from Robbie Williams and Ali Love, to Bentand the Gorillaz. Suffice to say, this is a rare treat for fans up close and personal. Also on the bill is Buzzin’ Fly’s ever-reliable Chris Woodward, Martin Lodge (Push FM), Mr Chex (Funk Royale), Jerry Frempong & Ian Morbey (Pret A Ecouter) and Toby Phickle (Jerk), with live latin percussion from Artizan’s Lil Dom.
With two rooms of quality Nu-disco, re-edits, funk, deep house and techno, regular pub prices and tickets at a reasonable £12 on the night (advance tickets: www.residentadvisor.net), this gets our vote to bring in 2011!
